The Lebanon County Commissioners have officially designated 2024 as the Year of the Arts in Mount Gretna. This designation comes in honor of the 50th year of the Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show, which will take place on Aug. 17 and 18. The celebration will highlight all types of art across the county, including theatre, music, and visual arts.
“The 50th Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show will honor the impact this nationally ranked event has on our region. The show will celebrate all of the cultural, artistic, educational, and performance events in our town. As we commemorate this milestone, we will recognize how the arts have created our unique sense of place in the Lebanon Valley,” says Art Show Director Kerry Royer.
Throughout the year, Visit Lebanon Valley will be highlighting artists and organizations that make their home in Lebanon County. From community theatres to fine art galleries to murals in Downtown Lebanon, they hope that these features will emphasize the creativity and well-being that is brought to the Lebanon Valley through the arts.
“The arts are transformative with the power to inspire and connect us all,” says Visit Lebanon Valley President Jennifer Kuzo, “For 2024, we seek to honor the role that art, music, and theatre play in improving the quality of life for our locals and visitors alike.”
Visit Lebanon Valley is still accepting suggestions of individuals and organizations to include in the Year of the Arts celebration. Suggestions can be emailed to dseymour@visitlebanonvalley.com.
